ABSTRACT

New methods of 3D objects documentation and research are tested at the CTU (Czech Technical University) in Prague, Laboratory of Photogrammetry. A ground penetrating radar GSSI SIR-3000 with two different antennas (400 MHz and 1.6 GHz) was used for documentation of the Charles Bridge. The GPR uses electromagnetic radiation in the microwave band of the radio spectrum and analyses signals reflected from the subsurface structures. The antenna transmitter emits impulses of sine wave that travels through the material. These impulses are reflected back to the antenna receiver by boundaries between the layers or the objects with different dielectric characteristics. The velocity of the radiation depends on the electromagnetic characteristics surveyed material.
