ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: In the last few years the building product Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) has become very common in timber engineering applications. The number of layers varies normally from three to seven and upwards. Currently, limited information is available for designers engaged in applications that require calculations of the in plane shear strength of CLT beams, deep beams (lintels, headers). This report presents four-point bending tests performed on several CLT deep beams carried at the laboratory of STU in Bratislava, Faculty of Civil Engineering. Two series (3 specimens of each) of CLT deep beams were tested, changing orientation of the outer and inner layers (parallel/perpendicular to the span direction). The experimental campaign’s goal is to compare the failure mode, how can the arrangement of lamellas influence the stresses in the cross section.
