ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: The plain strain problem of the fibre-matrix debonding coupling the interface damage and the Coulomb friction have been studied. The numerical formulation of the interface contact considers the Cohesive Interface Model (CIM) with the frictional contact. In the study, the influence of friction have been observed during the process of the interface debonding in both phases: the crack onset and the crack growth. The rate-independent process of the interface debonding have been governed by an energy-based formulation that has been implemented. The proposed contact model has been applied and tested in FibreReinforced Composite (FRC) sample in order to demonstrate the impact of the friction effect on the debonding process.
