ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: In certain cases, composite beams represent more convenient solution in comparison to classical structures, such as steel or reinforced concrete beams, which led to their widespread use in civil structures in previous decades. Nowadays, timber-concrete composite elements, mainly subjected to bending load, are considered as suitable structural solution for a variety of building and industry fields. This kind of composite structures can be used for new buildings and in the reconstruction of old timber ceilings. Main advantages of these kind of beams are their light-weight and the beneficial combination of concrete and timber material properties. The paper presents a concise information about design and realization of actual composite timber-concrete ceiling.
