ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: The Acoustic Non-Destructive Testing methods are a forceful tool for the determination of the lifetime of technical construction and engineering structures. The study of its properties for civil engineering is as important as the study of steel for mechanical engineering. An understanding of microstructure-performance relationships is the key to a true understanding of material behaviors. Nevertheless, application of Non-Destructive Testing methods in civil engineering area is not easy because many building materials are heterogeneous. Verification of application possibilities of Acoustic Emission and Impact-echo Methods during stress situation will be the aim of this article. Both methods can describe material changes during its lifetime. Acoustic Emission Method monitors composite structure continuously and Impact-echo Method monitors one in discrete time. Changes in the whole specimen are recorded.
