ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: Fighting moisture in historic masonry, made of mixed construction material of bricks and stones, is always very complicated. Besides the source of moisture, which such cases usually lies in the basement of the buildings, also the quality of construction material, which was used for constructing the walls originally, plays a major role. Unfortunately the exact character of the masonry is usually not known and only in some cases is it possible to get this information. Therefore the fighting moisture efforts are in many cases based on experiences of the expert’s team. In the case on the church of Piarists´s in Nitra the internationally approved method of continues steps was introduced. In the following article results of the first three years of introducing it are described.
