ABSTRACT

Introduction

This chapter reviews findings from studies examining the effects of various drugs on driving. These studies include drugs such as cannabis, amphetamines and ketamine. Of relevance are some recent studies conducted by the Drugs and Driving Research Unit which in 2010 celebrated 10 years of research on this specific topic. Two recent DDRU studies are discussed: (1) a randomized placebo controlled trial in which methamphetamine, MDMA and placebo were administered and driving skills assessed as well as (2) the preliminary results of a study examining culpability of various drugs in seriously injured drivers in Victoria.
