ABSTRACT

The event analysis of systemic team-work (EAST) methodology was developed as part of the Human Factors Integration Defence Technology Centre work programme, and uses a combination of HF methods to form a framework for analysing command, control, communication, computers and intelligence activity. The Co-ordination demands analysis (CDA) involves extracting teamwork tasks from the Hierarchical Task Analysis and rating them against the associated CDA taxonomy. The final step of the EAST analysis involves constructing propositional networks for each scenario phase identified during the Critical Decision Method (CDM) interviews. In order to construct the propositional networks for each phase, a basic contents analysis should be conducted using the associated CDM outputs. Social Network Analysis is used to analyse and represent the relationships between teams or agents within a social network. A propositional network diagram should be constructed for the overall scenario and then separate propositional network diagrams should be constructed for each phase, with the knowledge elements required highlighted.
