ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the damage situation of Ying-Xian Timber Pagoda is evaluated, advantages and disadvantages of historical restoration schemes are analyzed, and a new restoration scheme. Ying-Xian Timber Pagoda is the existing oldest wooden pagoda in China. The restoration project of Ying-Xian timber pagoda is an important task for the cultural heritage conservation in China. The restoration of Ying-Xian timber pagoda is a very important task to Chinese cultural heritage protection. Ying-Xian timber pagoda has a total height of 67.13 meter, it is the highest pavilion-style timber pagoda in China, and it was listed in the national key units for cultural relic conservation in 1961. From the point of view of long term conservation, it is necessary to constitute an integrated and thorough remedy plan for the pagoda. The damage situation of Ying-Xian timber pagoda is being continuously deteriorated with the material aging and the deformation development.
