ABSTRACT

The University Colleges are one of the most famous and significant projects of Giancarlo De Carlo that worked extensively in Urbino and that, between 1962 and 1983, builds a huge settlement to accommodate about 1100 students not far from the city, centre of the university life. The residences are arranged around a three-story building that houses the common facilities, such as a reception, a conference room, a canteen, services, common areas and study rooms. Operational procedures and schedules should be fine-tuned over time taking into account the actual process and the use, which may change over time. In fact, only through a shared process the plan can be realized and the constant monitoring of the state of conservation can allow an ongoing refinement of the plan itself, implementing a preventive approach based on the on the continuous implementation of knowledge.
