ABSTRACT

This chapter analyzes the various operational stages ranging from initial monitoring to the identification of the causes of the collapse mechanism, finally to the reconstruction project. The project takes into account the cultural values of the building and the improvement of its structural safety. The collapsed parts have to be reconstructed by means of stone materials with similar characteristics to the original ones. Even Piazza Armerina, an ancient center in Sicily has been the subject of several collapses that have left deep lacerations, open and that affected the Church of the Madonna of Itria, the Church of Santa Maria de Jesus, the Church Santa Chiara, the square of the Church of the Carmine. The construction of the Church has its origin in the will of Baron Marco Trigona, who died in 1598, leaving sole heir of his property the Cathedral of Piazza Armerina.
