ABSTRACT

In 1927, the Politecnico di Milano was moved to its new location within the Citta degli Studi. For the construction of the Citta degli Studi, the members of the Consortium opted for an area outside the city with a surface of 150.000 sq. m which was donated by the city of Milan. The planning stage was long and complex. The chapter explores the archive of the Consortium, the historical archives of the Politecnico in Milan, the archive of the University in Milan and the historical archive of the City of Milan. Particular attention is given to the professors of the Politecnico who participated in the project, with regards to their research, education and professional activities. The Politecnico archival pictures revealed the presence of floors with a simple slab and exposed main and secondary beams, with parallel beams and with reinforced concrete beams and hollow bricks.
