ABSTRACT

Tlajomulco is a town and municipality of the state of Jalisco in Western Mexico and is part of the Metropolitan Zone of Guadalajara City (ZMG). The ZMG is considered as the second largest metropolis of Mexico, Just after Mexico City. This chapter investigates the seismic vulnerability of the Franciscan Route buildings by means of simplified methods. These first indicators of seismic vulnerability and collected general information will be the basis for a future stage objected at evaluating the seismic behavior and failure mechanisms through more refined approaches such as finite element method, and limit analysis. The seismic evaluation is carried out by a proposed simplified index method which assesses the structural earthquake-resistant system. The municipality of Tlajomulco adjoins at North with the municipalities of Zapopan, Guadalajara and Tlaquepaque. The town of Tlajomulco and the complete municipality are of great importance to the ZMG in terms of economical and industrial development.
