ABSTRACT

The Three-story Stone Pagoda of Bulguksa Temple in Gyeongju was constructed1 in the first year of King Gyeongdeok in 742. It is a typical three-story stone pagoda from the United Silla Period in the form of putting a three-story pagoda body on top of a two-story platform. In december 2010, a crack on the northeast capstone of the upper stylobate was found in the three-storied stone pagoda of Bulguksa Temple during a periodical monitoring procedure. West Stone Pagoda Repair Records, which describes the repair history of the Three-story Stone Pagoda of Bulguksa Temple in Gyeongju, was discovered with sarira reliquary during disassembly and repair in 1966. The Three-story Stone Pagoda of Bulguksa Temple in Gyeongju Repair Project was an import project that was conducted by the collaboration among related agencies, various academic and research institutions in Korea, and related businesses.
