ABSTRACT

Due to deficiencies in the existing methods for removal of dust from coal mines at a fully mechanized excavation face, a more effective method is proposed in this study. It applies the swirl effect of the ventilator that is attached to the wall in the way of far-pressing-near-absorption ventilation system to gather high concentration dust to face and then combines with gas water spray to prevent and control dust. Taking 21,007 fully mechanized excavation face of coal mine as the prototype and according to actual conditions under the mine, GAMBIT software is used to establish a roadway geometry. Fluent software is used to simulate the roadway and to get the results of dust distribution with different ventilation methods. Then the simulation results are contrasted with the experiment results to get the high dust concentration zones. Based on the above results, self-actuated wet scrubber, wall attaching chimney and original gas water spray are used to prevent dust. The data from the site measurement show that dust suppression efficiency of full dust and respirable dust reaches 87%.
