ABSTRACT

Netting is a basic element in many structures that is related to fishing nets, which can be described in a mathematical model as a flexible structure. Making fishing net visualization and improving numerical simulation accuracy are the main issues that need to be addressed in the field of gear design. In order to simulate the shape configuration of submerged plane nets in current, a mass-spring model is derived based on the lumped mass method. The explicit Euler method is used to solve simulation motion equations, and then the shape configuration of the net is obtained. The results of numerical simulation are presented to show the sinking behavior and equilibrium configuration of the knotless plane net in current.
