ABSTRACT

To compensate the expansion of the outer harbor of Wintrich at the flow regulated federal waterway Moselle a compensatory measure was implemented in May 2008 on the left bank side of the river (Moselle-km 144.8 to 145.3). Following the landscape-conservation-support-plan new habitats for wildlife were created by a new anabranch including a small artificial island (BfG 2010b). To investigate the hydromorphological and ecological efficiency of this measure a monitoring over a period of 10 years started in 2010. Preliminary results of two field campaigns (2010 and 2015) indicated the occurrence of minor hydromorphological processes.
