ABSTRACT

The karst basin is a highly non-linear system in the domain of hydrology. This paper presents a comparison among three types of Xinanjiang models with different model structures for a sub-basin of the Lijiang River basin. Then one-dimensional hydrodynamic models of Lijiang River were established by MIKE 11HD coupled with Xinanjiang models. Observed daily data from gauging stations were used for calibration and validation of the hydrological models. The results show that these Xinanjiang models perform well with Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency (NSE) varying from 0.918 to 0.945, and most absolute relative error (RE) being less than 5%. Furthermore, the Xinanjiang model with three components of runoff (XAJ3) performs better than the other two because of its appropriate model structure and number of parameters. For the coupled hydrological-hydrodynamic model, the different characteristics of simulated error during flood and recession period indicate interaction between river water and groundwater in karst area of Lijiang River.
