ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book illustrates some of the potential applications of spatial technologies and methods within the context of the property and real estate industry. It examines the demand drivers for higher density living across three Australian cities Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. The book explores the spatial and regulatory impact of Airbnb on three large cities across three continents, London, Sydney and Phoenix, for the basis of three comparative case studies. It also explores how spatial data analysis tools can help to support cities in responding to the rise of Airbnb in an equitable and efficient way. The book illustrates how geographic information systems(GIS) methods can be applied for understanding the spatial patterns and distribution of rental accommodation matching platform, Airbnb. It focuses on retail land use and demonstrates how GIS can provide invaluable insights into a retailer's location and the distribution of purchasers.
