ABSTRACT

The performance of asphalt mixture improves significantly after added basalt fiber. Dynamic responses of basalt fiber reinforced asphalt pavement under moving loads were analyzed by numerical simulation. The finite element analysis software ABAQUS was used to establish the model of semi-rigid base asphalt pavement with the AC-13C asphalt mixture upper layer. Simulation results show that vertical displacement variation trends at different layers under the moving load are essentially consistent. The displacement of soil foundation accounts for a considerable proportion. Strengthening the intensity of soil foundation can reduce the pavement deflection. The horizontal stress, which mainly locates at the asphalt mixture upper layer as well changing from tension to compression over time, can lead to pavement fatigue failure more easily compared with the vertical stress. The tension-compression alternating on horizontal stress and shear stress at structure layer under moving loads is the main reason for pavement fatigue failure.
