ABSTRACT

Body image is the mental representation of the actual body. It involves the way someone experiences their own body. It is a unique and individual phenomenon of the human being with himself and with the other. Cash and Smolak (2012) defined body image as the subjective representation of physical appearance, based on visual, kinesthetic and tactile sensations that are constantly changing, according to environmental stimuli. Therefore, it consists of perceptions, feelings and attitudes the individual has in relation to his body, a result of the dynamic interaction between perception and the environment. Body image is related to the degree of satisfaction with the body and body investment. The physical reality of one’s appearance, the way an individual perceives and judges his appearance,

Breasts represent the feminine condition. They have been, over time and in different cultures, a symbol of femininity, sexuality and motherhood and thus, they have great significance for the physical and emotional integrity of women (Singh et al. 2012) (Rogliani et al. 2009).
