ABSTRACT

For constitutive modeling the transverse configuration of soft biological tissues with oriented fiber bundles, i.e., vaginal wall experiments were used. In previous studies (Martins 2010), samples of anterior and posterior vaginal walls, extracted from cadavers, were submitted to uniaxial tensile tests, until sample rupture, in the transverse direction of its fibers as in Figure 1. The number of samples tested for the anterior and posterior vaginal walls was 5 and 12, respectively, and their average and Standard Error of the Means (SEM) were calculated. Finally, the resultant stress-stretch curves were modeled with several constitutive models.
