ABSTRACT

The arrival of network age as well as the information and technology development has brought new opportunities and challenges to foreign language teaching reform in universities. The traditional foreign language teaching pattern in universities which was listening, speaking, reading and writing has also gradually transformed into a pattern putting more emphasis on cultivating students’ foreign language communication ability and language application thereof. It is currently a trend of development consented by all colleges and universities to apply multimedia technology as an auxiliary method into college foreign language teaching. Multimedia technology refers to the technology that with the assist of computer, it conducts comprehensive processing and management to text, data, graphics, images, animation, sound and other media information, which enables users to take real-time information interaction with computers through multi-sensory organs, also known as the computer multimedia technology.
