This chapter presents content that will benefit everyone from writers and narrative designers exploring the option to freelance to freelancing veterans. It explains what freelancing in game writing means and discusses the business side of working as a game writer for hire. The chapter also explains what to do and what not to do when approaching freelancing. Freelancing skills help writer maintain writers' business and grow as a businessperson. As a freelancer running a business, writers' always going to have to market their and make a good impression. The chapter considers the advantages and disadvantages of starting a company and the costs for running it, including business taxes.
