ABSTRACT

This chapter deals with a better appreciation of how board games are able to create an experience equal to anything on a digital screen. It provides some of the best practices for crafting a story in nondigital games. The chapter looks at some of the techniques used in some of the best recent games, as well as outlining some recent, exciting approaches in the field. It highlights the overall ways board games function so that professional writer will understand the best ways to create evocative narratives in writer's board games. The chapter considers momentous works of board game design narrative and explains of them help inform thoughts on the nondigital medium. It describes the breadth of options and place for narrative and character in nondigital games. Politics in game design are mechanics that feed the drama between the players.
