ABSTRACT

Jordan has one of the most modern health-care infrastructures in the Middle East. Government institutions include the Jordan Food and Drug Agency and the Department for Unified Drug Procurement. Health care in Jordan is provided through both the private and public sectors, with private expenditure on health making up 31.4% of the total in 2015, and the remainder being supplied by the Government. The accreditation programme in Jordan has been implemented in Ministry of Health (MoH) Primary health-care (PHC) settings since 2010. PHC services are provided mainly by the MoH, through an extensive PHC network, consisting of 102 comprehensive health centres, 380 PHC centres, and 194 village clinics. A wide range of PHC services are provided in health centres, including general medical care, care of children, family planning, obstetric care, perinatal care, first aid, dispensing of pharmaceutical prescriptions, and dental care.
