ABSTRACT
Ionic Liquids are known to be a new class of liquids that replaces the toxic volatile organic chemicals and promotes Green Chemistry. They are less toxic as compare to the conventional solvents. There physiochemical properties can be tailored by functionalizing it with variety of functional groups. The whole chapter comprises of different physicochemical properties and dependence on various parameters. Depending on the requirement of application one can easily control it by functionalizing it with a particular functional group. These ionic liquids can be used in various fields of science that includes catalysis, electrochemistry, sensing etc. Some of the properties have been discussed in this chapter.
