ABSTRACT
Nosocomial Infection (NI) or hospital acquired infections (HAI) are a persistent cause of inconvenience to health care facilities. NI's increase treatment costs and duration of patient stay in the hospital significantly. In a few cases they're a source of mortality. With the advent of machine learning (ML), computer scientists are able to make accurate predictions and risk assessment about the occurrence, impact, and cure of NI. This chapter thoroughly educates the reader on the basic concepts and attempts made by ML researchers to mitigate NI.
