ABSTRACT
This chapter deals with the necessity, advantages, and principles of “smart analytical labs,” a modern concept requiring the integration of sophisticated technologies like autonomous computing, cloud computing, and Internet of things (IoT) with the analytical instruments. Together these give rise to smart devices and smart analytical labs. In this chapter, we discuss the use in analytical labs of “smart” versions of analytical devices such as biosensors, colorimeters, spectrometers, and fluorimeters.
