ABSTRACT

The current paradigm of robotics in the field of medicine emerges as a great boon for humanity. It gives industries a preoperative scope for pre-planning of different sequences of operations and testing before executing in the real system which continuousy monitors different relevant parameters. This central monitoring of different relevant parameters in the medical field provides the intervention of cutting-edge technology IoT in the field of healthcare where patients, as well as doctors, can continuous track a patient's individual health. The sequence of pre-planning and rehearsal of complex surgeries, gives useful suggestions to specialized surgeons performing operations. Computer-assisted surgery provides feasibility to surgeons to operate from remote locations, where the master tool manipulators (MTMs) and patient side manipulator (PSM) can be interfaced using IoT. MTMs control PSM according to the surgeons input, whereas PSM is equipped with different sensory devices like a force sensor, vision sensor, tactile sensor and so on, with different actuators to provide patient parameters to the doctor. With MTMs doctors will able to feel the haptic feedback, which provides intuitive knowledge of the work environment inside the patient. This chapter includes advances, challenges and different application of Iot and robotics in the field of healthcare.
