ABSTRACT
Water, nature’s most wonderful, abundant, and useful compound, which is unique to Earth, covers near about 75% of the Earth’s surface. It is the only known substance that can naturally exist as a gas, solid, and liquid within the relatively small range of air temperatures and pressures found on Earth’s surface. In many ways, water is a miracle liquid. It is essential for all living things on this planet. Water is considered to be of greatest importance for the existence of animal and plant life. Without food, an animal can survive for a number of days, but without it one cannot survive.
Water is not only important for living things but also occupies a unique position in the industrial world. It is used in steam generation and as a coolant in power and chemical plants. It is also used in the other fields such as production of steel, rayon, paper, textiles, etc.
