ABSTRACT

The process design began in July of 1984 for both the water and wastewater treatment systems. Both systems required a great deal of background development. The basic design parameters for the system were developed and discussed with a number of equipment suppliers and some electronic components manufacturers. The project included design and construction of both the ultrahigh purity water system and an associated heavy metal wastewater treatment system. The DI Storage Tank is a 40,000-gallon, field erected, fiberglass reinforced polyester tank. During design applications, experts for the major resin manufacturers were contacted. The system is capable of producing 200 gpm of ultrahigh purity water, which we believe is the second largest single ultrahigh purity water system in operation. This system and Control Data's system are the only ones of significant size to incorporate reclaiming of high quality rinse waters.
