ABSTRACT

142Foliar uptake and translocation of 14C-glyphosate in gorse with two glyphosate formulations were consistently enhanced by the addition of nonionic surfactants. The best result was obtained with Silwet L-77, an organosilicone surfactant which enhanced uptake to a maximum of 70%; it also gave the greatest translocation, 7.4% of applied herbicide. All treatments showed a strong basipetal movement of glyphosate out of the treated foliage.
