ABSTRACT

112A negative relationship between water hardness and physical compatibility of 15 pesticides was observed. As water hardness decreased, compatibility with the pesticides increased. Type of formulation also influenced the compatibility of pesticides, but compatibility was sometimes reduced if the water hardness changed. Cation exchange resin added in 630 ppm hard water produced a greater softening effect than the other three selected potential softeners, removing almost 96.2% of the hardness in a ratio of 10:1 (water:resin, v/w).
