Modeling the Uptake of Organic Compounds into Plants

A fugacity model for the uptake of chemicals into plants was developed. Laboratory experiments were used to validate the simulation model. The plant-soil bioconcentration factor depends on the ratio of K_ow:K_oc values of the chemical, the lipid fraction of the plant, the organic carbon content of the soil, the water contents, and the transfer and metabolism kinetics.
