ABSTRACT

Flowers are pubescent and overlap one another to form a dense, closely bracted, erect, aechmea-like 15-cm-long spike with a 2.5-cm-long peduncle. The individual flowers are composed of a corolla, which is a slender tube some 2.5 cm long. The natural time of flowering in Denmark for Crossandra Infundibuliformis ‘Mona Wallhed’ under greenhouse conditions is from March to September. Low temperatures did not induce or advance flowering under low light intensities. At low light intensities lower temperatures are favorable for better quality. Sprays of SADH reduced internode elongation of Crossandra plants without delay of flowering or reduction in the number or inflorescences; ethephon was ineffective.
