ABSTRACT

The genus Dichondra Forst, is a member of the Convolvulaceae family. The small solitary and pedicellate flowers consist of a 5-parted calyx and a 5-parted greenish-white corolla. Maximum flowering is achieved after 5 or 6 weeks of vernalization although some flowering may occur after only 2 weeks. Apical buds are not affected by vernalization but remain vegetative, hence all stems are indeterminate. Flowering will continue on new stem growth for at least several months when temperatures are in the range of 15 to 20°Celsius. Plants in full flower will rapidly cease flowering if exposed to a few days of such temperatures.
