ABSTRACT

Tacitus bellus Moran et Meyran (syn. Graptopetalum bellum) belongs to the Crassulaceae. This chapter presents data on the flower morphology of and the influence of temperature and photoperiod on Tacitus bellus. Inflorescences are borne in the axils of young leaves in active growing plants, mostly 1, but up to 3 in number. They are few-flowered cymes with pedicles of up to 5 cm length. Flowers are generally erect, protandrous, odorless, and the five calyx segments are free almost to the base, elliptic-oblong and 6 to 11 mm long. The number of flowers depends on the size of plants. Depending on duration of inductive conditions and the following photoperiods, the minimum plant area for the induction of 1 single flower seems to be about 10 cm.
