ABSTRACT

Erythrina (Fabaceae) is a genus of 108 trees and shrubs of wide distribution in the tropical and subtropical portions of the world. Because of their brilliant red or orange flowers, usually displayed when trees are bare, coral trees are widely planted in gardens and parks of regions with a warm climate. 14 , 19 , 20 , 22 , 24 Species cultivated in California and Florida have been described, 20 , 22 and excellent color photographs of many species of Erythrina can be found. 17 , 19a , 22
