ABSTRACT

The genus Nopalxochia (Cactaceae) consists of two species native to Mexico, N. akker-mannii (Haw.) Knuth and N. phyllanthoides (DC.) Br. & R. They are bushy, epiphytic plants with leaflike shoots (phyllocladia) and red or pink flowers. In contrast to the epi-phyllums, flowers are open during the daily light period.
