ABSTRACT

The genus Sternbergia (Amaryllidaceae) contains eight species, three of which are native to Israel: 14 S. clusiana (Ker-Gawler) Ker-Gawler ex Spreng., S. lútea (L.) Ker-Gawler ex Spreng., and S. cochiciflora Walldst. & Kit. The genus mainly occurs throughout the Mediterranean and West Irano-Turanian regions. 14 In the southeast, its range penetrates into the Irano-Turanian region and reaches as far north as the Caucasus Mountains in the Euro-Siberian region. 21
