ABSTRACT

The genus Trachelium L. (Diosphaera Buser) is a member of the Campanulaceae and consists of 7 to 10 species of usually erect perennial herbs, often woody at the base. The genus is native to the Mediterranean region and is propagated by cuttings or seed. In recent years, Trachelium caeruleum L. has been used mainly as a cut-flower crop in Japan, Israel, and Europe, but recent breeding lines have yielded more dwarf cvs with potential as potted plants.
