ABSTRACT

The genus Vincularia, commonly known as the bladderwort, comprises some 150 species 16 and belongs to the family Lentibulariaceae, one of five families among the angiosperms that exhibit insectivory. Insectivorous plants have evolved remarkably sophisticated and intricate mechanisms to attract, capture, and digest their prey. Utricularias are autotrophic but have a supplementary diet ranging from algae, bacteria, and fungi, to worms, water insects, and other small aquatic organisms.
