ABSTRACT

Visearía alba is a member of the Caryophyllaceae and is commonly grown as a herbaceous garden ornamental. The species is perennial, with erect and densely leafy and short shoots when vegetative and leafy elongated flowering shoots. The unnamed cv used in the experiments described below as white-flowered with a stem-height of flowering shoots of over 50 cm, (see Figure 1). The genus Visearía is closely related also to the genera Silene and Melandrium and reference should be made to the relevant chapters of the CRC Handbook of Flowering. 1-4
