ABSTRACT

Administering and supporting job scheduling has been complicated by the drive toward open systems, which often include client/server architectures. When evaluating job-scheduling software, the data center manager must examine such issues as centralized vs. decentralized computing, high-availability requirements, and mission-critical work loads. Only after the data center manager addresses these issues can an organization be positioned to perform the in-depth software evaluation needed to successfully implement job scheduling within an open systems environment.
