ABSTRACT
SOD can be assayed by either enzymatic activity or immunoreactivity in extracts of numerous tissues. Specific localization of the various forms of SOD provides helpful information concerning their subcellular distribution. The activity of SOD is known from biochemical assays to vary in different tissues, but the distribution within the specific cell types is largely undetermined.
