ABSTRACT
The algae cover a wide range of organisms with great diversity in size, morphology and metabolism. The majority are photosynthetic organisms, fairly low on the evolutionary scale, that is, lacking in the specialization encountered in bryophytes and vascular plants. In addition, certain colorless organisms are included on the basis of structural and morphological similarities to photo synthetic forms.
