ABSTRACT

The vibrations inside trucks during transport of fruits and vegetables were measured using triaxial accelerometers. Different types of roads (highway, country road,..), different types of trucks and different speeds were considered, in order to have a representative overview of the vibrations that typically occur. Accelerations for translations of more than 2 g were measured. Dominant frequencies were situated between 0 and 30 Hz. The most important translations were measured in the vertical and transverse direction. In the driving direction, the translations were much smaller. For the rotations the roll and pitch movements were the most important with values above 2 g, whereas the yaw movement was less important. Again the most important frequencies were situated between 0 and 30 Hz.
