ABSTRACT

Factorial planning of the test design is a powerful tool for short and effective testing. Such testing makes it possible to study the interaction between different parameters. Accelerated testing in the context of product development is treated by Andersson. The importance of accelerated testing and the use of factorial designs for the improvement of reliability are emphasized by Bergman. The goal of reliability engineering is to improve product and system reliability in a cost-effective way. Improved reliability and availability of industrial production equipment has been achieved by the use of new methods for measuring and analysing the condition of the machinery. By using effective condition monitoring techniques, failures can be predicted well in advance and unexpected production stops avoided. Availability Performance Assurance consists of development of methodology for treatment, combination and analysis of life data, failure frequency data and condition data in order to use and maintain production resources to achieve minimization of operational and maintenance costs.
