ABSTRACT

Growth regulators which can assist the plant in overcoming environmental and biological stresses will allow the plant to expend its energy and resources toward attaining its true yield potential. Natural growth regulators affect early root and seedling development and will remain active throughout the life of the plant. In addition to considering the morphological, genetic, or physiological ability of the species itself, successful incorporation of plant regulators into soybean production will depend upon cultural practices which producers use. Genetic lines for soybeans that are produced in the US have an origin from the environments of China proper, Manchuria, Korea, and Japan. The plant has a great diversity of adaptability to photoperiod, the nutritional status of the soil, the water status of the soil, the temperature associated with the environments, biological competitors or pests, and other conditions under which the plant is asked to produce high quality seeds.
